DESCRIPTION: Ansonia Clock Co., Ansonia, Conn., 3 arm balance, Torsion Candlestick Timepiece with 2 3/4-in. embossed & silvered brass dial, thirty-hour timepiece with 3 small brass cups on the ends of the balance arms, hairspring, and regulator below the movement, back plate stamped Terry Ville Manufacturing Company, Terry Ville, Conn., Patented October 5th, 1852, milk glass pedestal and glass dome,
CONDITION: This torsion escapement clock was designed and manufactured by Silas B. Terry and can be found with Terryville Mfg. Co. paper dials. However, Silas's cousin, Theodore Terry became head of the Terryville firm about 1854 and was also a partner in the early Ansonia Clock Company, Some of the left over Terryville clocks were fitted with cast metal dials marked "Ansonia Clock Co." and sold by that firm shortly before their Ansonia, Conn. factory was destroyed by fire. Silvering on dial has some oxidation, hands original, stand and dome are good.
